The Old Canberra Inn, Lyneham
A slab-hut coaching inn older than the city itself, with fireside couches in winter and a big beer garden under old wisteria in summer. Easy to talk in, and nobody's taking minutes.
Canberra, Queanbeyan and the ACT
Mature, casual and strictly need-to-know.
Canberra runs on reputations. A good chunk of the town works for a department, an agency or a minister, some hold a security clearance, and nearly everyone has sat in a meeting with someone who knows their ex. The person at the next table could be two floors up from you on Monday.
So discretion isn't a nice extra here, it's the starting point. You go by a made-up name, nobody sees your real one or your email, and your profile places you no closer than the nearest town. Spot a colleague? One tap blocks them, and they can't see you or message you again. Married or attached and keeping it quiet? Discreet dating when you're already spoken for covers it.
More than 20 members live across the ACT, with a few more out at Goulburn, and the search reaches over the border to Queanbeyan as easily as it reaches Belconnen. Join and you can also meet members of the other sites on our shared casual dating network, who see your profile too. In a town this size, that counts.
The figures below cover the whole ACT, since that's how the records group Canberra.
Member records for the ACT, October 2026.
Roughly four in five are 45 or older, just over half have passed 55, and nearly two in three sit between 45 and 64. If you're somewhere between your late forties and your mid sixties, you're right in the middle of the pack.
Out of the office
The trick in Canberra is somewhere social enough to relax and far enough from work to look like nothing at all.

Restaurants and bars along the water at the eastern end of Lake Burley Griffin. Busy on weekends, which is exactly the point when you'd like to blend in.
The Royal Hotel on Monaro Street has a terrace and a bistro, fifteen minutes from Civic and technically a different state. Some people find that very reassuring.
Canberra spreads out in town centres: Belconnen, Gungahlin, Woden and Tuggeranong, each with its own shops and its own regulars. The light rail runs from Gungahlin to the city along Northbourne Avenue, buses fill the gaps, and for everything else you drive, roundabout after roundabout. That suits a first meet nicely: each of you turns up under your own steam and leaves the same way.
Winters are cold and often frosty, so fireside pub nights come into their own from May. In spring, Floriade fills Commonwealth Park with flowers and crowds, decent cover for an arvo wander that looks like any other outing. Before you write a word of your profile, read dating profile tips over 50, and give our safety advice for meeting in person a glance too.
Only if they're a member too. Even then they'd see a made-up name and the closest town, never your real name or your street. Block them and they lose sight of you altogether, messages included.
Yes. It's our page for the whole Australian Capital Territory and for Queanbeyan just over the border, and Goulburn has a few members of its own up the road.
Head north to Lyneham, along the lake to Kingston, or over the border to Queanbeyan. All three feel a long way from the office towers of Barton and Civic, and all are busy, public places for a first drink.
